Thank you for viewing my page. Listed below are the posted items. - Welcome letter
- Music Discipline/Grade Plan
- Program schedule for all grades
August 27, 2012
Greetings
Parents,
Welcome
to the 2012-2013 Music school year.
Our
classes are off to a very exciting start with each grade level planning a program this Fall semester.
Look for that schedule on another letter. You will also find that
information on the school website.
Limited notes will be sent home this year so be sure to mark your
calendar and check the website.
I
would like to explain a few things about my class:
- Your child comes to my
class twice a week.
- Music classes are
large, with at least two homerooms coming at the same time.
- Each student begins the
six weeks with a grade of 100.
- When students disturb
class they are asked to change their behavior. If this does not happen then several things might
happen…children will be moved, asked to copy behavior sentences, copy
paragraphs related to music, write numbers or the alphabet for the younger
students & sign the discipline chart.
- If this does not help, the child will be sent to the office and/or parents will be called.
Please
take time to read carefully the Music Discipline & Music Class
Grading following this letter.
I
love working with children and enjoy being a part of their school day. I want to do all that is possible to
make music a positive experience for them. I expect each child to treat others the way he/she would
like to be treated.
Thank
you ahead of time for your help and support of the music program at Highland
Park Elementary school.

MUSIC DISCIPLINE/GRADE
PLAN
Below is this year’s discipline/grade plan for the music
room. As always, each student is
given several verbal warnings before the plan begins.
I have an incentive chart for each grade level.
Each grading period begins with a clean chart.
Each grading period all students begin with a 100.
1. 1st offense the student will sign the chart and write the
day’s date in the corresponding empty box.
2.
2nd offense student will write a Thinking Page
3.
3rd offense student will miss a recess & either come to the music room or walk at recess.
- 4.
4th offense the student will work a music lesson
page.
5.
5th offense the student will visit with the principal.
6. Each offense after the office visit the student
will be sent back to the office.
For each offense the student will write the date on the
chart.
Each of these times is a deduction 3 points on their grade for that 6 weeks.
Positive Reinforcement:
- All students who do not have to sign the chart in a 6 weeks period will get a sticker...
- PLUS---students who do not have to sign the chart will have their
names in the "stick can." One of these students from each
music section will have an opportunity to sign the "Positive Character"
animal by the drawing of their stick each 6 weeks.
