What Will I Learn This Six Weeks?

March 05, 2009

Highland Park Independent School District participates in the Texas Education Service Center Curriculum Collaborative (TESCCC) and uses CSCOPE as a curriculum support system with our students.  CSCOPE provides curriculum for the core area subjects of English Language Arts/Reading, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies for grades K-12.  The curriculum is aligned with state standards, the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), and the state assessment, Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS).  CSCOPE is a concept-based curriculum that provides a common language, structure, and process for students and teachers.

Exemplar lessons are included for teacher study and/or use and are based on the highly effective and research-based 5-E model of instruction (Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, and Evaluate).  Other resources are also available for student and teacher use.

For parent perusal, HPISD has posted a summary of each grade level unit of instruction for the remainder of the school year, so that parents may partner with their children and their children’s teachers in our educational journey together from grades K-12.

Parents are highly encouraged and welcomed to contact teachers and administrators for more detailed information about district curriculum and classroom instructional practices.  There is also a link to the CSCOPE website for more information on this curriculum support system.
