Meet Our Hornet
Our Hornet of the Week is Christine Canales. She works as a teacher in the Special Education department at Highland Park High School. Christine grew up in Sunray and graduated from Texas Tech University in 2006 with a B.A. in Public Relations and a minor in General Business. After spending two and a half years in the marketing/sales field, Christine realized she strongly desired to be a teacher and entered the Panhandle Alternative Certification for Educators (P.A.C.E.) program at West Texas A&M University to obtain her teaching certification. She began her first year of teaching here at Highland Park in the fall of 2009. Christine is still enrolled at WTAMU and is working towards a master’s in education. She volunteered with the Big Brothers Big Sisters program while living in Lubbock and currently volunteers with the local Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Epilepsy Foundation of West Texas.
