Elementary Principal's Letter
Welcome to Highland Park Elementary!
Our district is a suburban school district just on the eastern edge of Amarillo, Texas in Potter County that began in the 1978-1979 school year. Currently, our elementary enrollment is about 500 students in PreKindergarten through Fifth Grade.
Highland Park Elementary is a very special school in many ways, primarily because of the awesome student population whom we serve. Many of our students live in housing that was formerly part of the Amarillo Air Force Base while others live in various small community pockets, in rural areas, and on farms and ranches located throughout our district. We also have many students who transfer from nearby districts because of our “small-town” environment and our unique school setting.
Registration for the 2010-2011 school year will be held on Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, August 4th, 2010 from 12:00 noon to 7:00 p.m. in the school Cafetorium. Items needed for new students registering are: a state-sealed copy of your child’s birth certificate, a current immunization record, a copy of your child’s social security number, and a photocopy of a parent’s and/or guardian’s driver’s license. For people living within our district, Highland Park also requires a proof of residency that may be either a utility bill or a lease agreement that are in your name. If you have questions regarding registration, proofs of residency, or other questions, please call our office at 806.335.1334, Ext. 122.
Homeroom Teacher Assignments for 2010-2011 will be posted on the outside of the front doors to the Elementary Building beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 19, 2010. Doors will remain locked until 7:00 p.m. Afterwards, please come to our Meet the Teacher Night, Thursday, August 19, 2010 from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. to meet and get to know your child’s teacher and to drop off your child’s school supplies for the year! This will provide a smooth, less-stressful start to a wonderful school year of learning and growing together for both our students and parents!
