November has been a busy month for all the students in the Family and Consumer Science Department. The following activities have either been accomplished or are pending.
October 30, the students assisted in preparing the meal for Dinner Theater. Students also decorated the dining area, served the meal and hosted the tables.
Dinner Theater is a Highland Park Tradition that has spanned 7 years. This year the proceeds from Dinner Theater were donated to the D-FY-It program.
November 9 a Veteran's day program was presented to the students, staff, and visiting Veterans. The Family and Consumer Science Department was responsible for preparing the meal and serving over 90 Veteran's and their families.
After the Thanksgiving Holiday, the Skills for Living class began their "egg baby" project. Parental involvement was crucial for the learning during this experience. The students designed and created empty eggs and were responsible for them for 5 days. The class discussed child development and babysitting basics during this time.
