2018-2019 Bond Project Information
In May 2018, the voters of Highland Park Independent School District passed a $15 million Bond Election for the construction, renovation, acquisition and equipment of school facilities, including the acquisition of school buses. The District selected Shiver-Megert & Associates, LLP to serve as the architect for the upcoming projects. Wiley Hicks Jr. Inc. is the Construction Manager At-Risk for the projects.
In the Spring of 2019, the district began working to complete the first phases of the construction and renovation projects. The exterior door and frame replacement package was the first to be released and should be complete by mid-October 2019. The construction of a new bus barn and renovations to basement restrooms and HVAC soon followed. This project will be completed in stages. The basement is set to be completed in mid-October 2019 with the bus barn facility scheduled for a March 2020 completion date. A key safety upgrade of the districts intercom, clocks and bells was the third project to be released. Work will soon begin to ensure a late fall completion of this project.
The final phase of the construction and renovation projects should go out for bid soon. This package will be the largest in size and scope as it will include roofing, HVAC replacement, interior renovations to restrooms and locker rooms, an auditorium renovation, secondary office and technology classroom renovation, and parking lot restructure and paving.
Other bond projects that have been completed include the replacement of four school buses and four fleet vehicles in addition to an upgrade to the entire technology infrastructure across the district’s campuses.
All projects funded by the bond proceeds have an estimated completion for the Summer of 2020.
